Harbour & Marine

Engineering office Stranger part of BM engineering group

Works on various port-related projects in the ports of Flanders and the Netherlands (Rotterdam and Vlissingen). As a technical partner for the customer, we ensure efficient management and follow-up, so that projects are realised quickly and (cost-)efficiently.

What are we doing?

What?

Challenging and diverse

In port docks at home and abroad, we design jetties and nautical infrastructure to allow both seagoing and inland vessels to moor safely and efficiently. All related mooring facilities - such as dolphins, bollards, brake works and crash barriers - are also part of our expertise.

Link with mainland

Between ship and shore and onshore, we provide technical installations for transhipment and storage, such as piperacks and tank farms. We have expertise in various sectors with diverse and often complex projects in chemicals, petrochemicals and bulk storage.

Sustainable and future-proof

The world of port authorities and terminal operators is changing rapidly. We keep our finger on the pulse and proactively provide the building owner with technical support to modernise and digitise facilities. The goal? To realise sustainable and future-oriented facilities.

How do we handle this?

How?

Thinking along and 'counter-thinking'

Our approach always starts from the customer's needs, and we like to think along with them. But we also dare to 'think against'. By drawing on our extensive experience and expertise with other projects, and by staying on top of the latest developments, we often propose solutions that are even more efficient, budget-friendly, flexible or sustainable than those initial ideas, allowing the client to make the right choice(s) from a wider range of possibilities.

Finger on the pulse

For port-related projects, we cannot only draw on a rich array of past projects. We also learn continuously and keep our finger on the pulse of the market and the latest standards and regulations. This allows us to be shorter and more qualitative on the ball for our client. We also use efficient software and calculation tools. For instance, we can perform mooring analyses for precise location determination of mooring posts and trough force calculations.

Close cooperation

We like to work closely with the customer, the contractor and any external partners from the very beginning of the process in order to quickly produce realistic estimates of the project ideas. This cooperation is also crucial during execution, for smooth interaction between all parties and cost-conscious realisation within the planned timing.

The BENEFITS of our approach

  • With a thorough design process and our extensive knowledge of (digitalisation of) maritime structures, we make the difference.

  •  We are fully in tune with today's market trends and are aware of the customer's specific wishes and needs.

  •  We offer a wide range of innovative solutions, based on an extensive database of diverse and often complex projects.
