Sea Tank Terminal
In 2018, Sea Tank Terminal in Antwerp constructed 4 new tank farms and a jetty at the Delwaidedok. The civil works were completed within one year.
A total of 30 new tanks, supported on pile foundations, were built with a height of 30m and diameter varying from 20 to 50m, resulting in a storage capacity increase of 750.000m3. Each tank farm is surrounded by concrete cantilever walls up to a height of 3,7m to withstand a possible failure or rupture of the tanks to be in agreement with fire regulations. For optimal employment of the area within 100 m from the quay wall a T-jetty with 4 berths was designed. The jetty has a total length of 360 m and can berth coasters up to 145 m at the outer berths.
The scope of BM Engineering included the permitting for the tank farms and jetty, the design and tendering of the foundatons and retention areas of the tank farms and the design and tendering of the concrete trestle, steel catwalks, pipe racks and marine structures for berthing of the jetty. In addition, BM Engineering was responsible for the clash detection in 3D between piping and the structures.
